Support following diagnosis

In the event of a cancer diagnosis following thorough investigations, you can be assured that the entire staff at Didsbury Medical Centre—both clinical and non-clinical—will provide unwavering support.

Three months post-diagnosis, you will have a cancer care review with one of our General Practitioners (GPs) to assess your progress and overall well-being. Following this, you will receive an annual review, though your GP may choose to reach out more frequently if deemed necessary.

As a practice located in South Manchester, we are fortunate to have the esteemed cancer care facilities of Christie Hospital in close proximity. As a specialised cancer care institution, their dedicated teams are committed to ensuring you receive the highest quality care throughout your treatment.

While cancer primarily impacts physical health, it can also significantly affect mental well-being. Fortunately, organisations like Macmillan Cancer Support are available to assist you at every stage of your treatment. Macmillan provides a comprehensive range of services, including information, support, and advice for patients, as well as resources for those caring for individuals with cancer.

Additionally, Macmillan offers a support line at 0800 808 00 00 and an online chat service, both operational from 8 AM to 8 PM.

Please remember that your GP at Didsbury Medical Centre is also here to help. Should you have any questions regarding cancer or concerns about your mental health, do not hesitate to reach out and consult with a healthcare professional.
