Diabetes, You and Me is a community-based peer support group designed for individuals living with diabetes. The group focuses on providing tips and fostering conversations to empower patients to maintain a healthy lifestyle while gaining a better understanding of their condition.
What Does Diabetes, You and Me Offer?
Diabetes, You and Me provides both clinical and lifestyle support to assist patients in managing their diabetes within a peer-supported environment.
- Enjoy engaging cooking sessions where patients learn how to prepare their favorite recipes in a healthier, diabetes-friendly way.
- Attend clinical sessions with a specialized diabetes nurse, along with discussion forums where patients can share their experiences and exchange helpful tips.
When and Where Are Sessions Held?
- Sessions take place every Monday from 1 PM to 3 PM at Barlow Moor Community Association, 23 Merseybank Avenue, M21 7NT.
- The first Monday of each month features an ‘Ask a Nurse’ session with a specialised diabetes nurse.
- The second Monday is dedicated to a fun, hands-on cooking session aimed at teaching patients how to create healthy, diabetes-friendly meals.
- The last two Mondays of the month are reserved for group discussions.
Do I Need a Referral from My GP?
No! If you have diabetes and believe this group would be beneficial, feel free to drop in to any of the Monday sessions.
